What is Socially Haunting?

 

Hey there! My name is Haley Van Horn and I am a Sociologist and writer based in Los Angeles, California. I started this blog after I graduated from college and began to panic. I had left my job, wasn't in school for the first time in 20-something years, and had no idea what I was going to do with myself in the middle of a global pandemic. When throwing around ideas about what the hell I wanted to do with all of this new free time, my mind instantly went to my favorite aspect of Los Angeles, it's cemeteries. Since I was a kid, Turner Classic Movies has been the soundtrack of my life. I am passionate about classic Hollywood and the stars who made it so special. I love to visit the stars who call these cemeteries their final resting places. Now I am here, to share it all with you.

The goal of Socially Haunting is to tell the stories of Hollywood legends who are no longer with us but whose social impact lives on. Sometimes these stories will be inspirational and uplifting, other times they will be sad and hard to read. As I visit the final resting places of some of my favorite (and least favorite) Hollywood legends, I want to share their stories with you, from a sociological perspective.
